Readings      

Saturday 26th March

“Hagley Hall, Francis Brett Young’s White Ladies and Wistanslow, Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca.” – a preparation for the May dinner. Cost: to include tea/coffee and biscuits £5 per person  


Dinner    

Wednesday 11th May 

Hagley Hall, Hall Drive, Hagley, Stourbridge, DY9 9LG 12noon 

By kind invitation of Viscount Cobham this is a one-off opportunity for the annual dinner to take place at Hagley Hall, a venue familiar to Francis Brett Young through his friendship with the Lyttelton family. Three-course set menu followed by coffee and chocolates. 

Starter: Smoked salmon, horseradish cream, baby watercress and pumpernickel bread; 

Main course: Supreme of chicken, dauphinoise potato with roasted carrot, tarragon and mushroom jus; Vegetarian alternative; 

Dessert:Vanilla panna cotta with strawberry syrup and biscotti; Coffee and chocolates: Cost: £35 per person [Hagley Hall asks that all visitors to the grounds take note of the following warning: “The Perron steps at the front of the Hall are slippery when wet and the Estate suggest that the use of these stairs is kept to a minimum in adverse weather conditions. If guests use the steps in the aforementioned conditions, they do so at their own risk. The ha-ha, situated at the far edge of the Perron Lawn, consists of a one- metre drop to the front field. The Hall advises that guests should keep at least a 1 metre distance from the ha-ha at all times.”]

Thursday 16th June

Canal trip from central Birmingham to Kings Norton and back

Meet at Sherborne Wharf, International Convention Centre Quay side.

10.45am prompt

Travel on board the Euphrates Packet on this 4½ hour trip through Edgbaston (FBY’s Alvaston) to Kings Norton, returning to Sherbourne Wharf at approximately 3.30pm. A buffet lunch will be served on board. Numbers strictly limited to 35.

Cost: £26 per person


AGM    

Tuesday 20th September

Hartlebury Castle, Kidderminster, DY11 7XZ

The day’s programme will include the opportunity to visit the impressive Hurd Library and to take a tour of the grounds.
